Isla Taboga
is the home of one of Panama's Infoplazas. In association with the
government of Panama, Isla Taboga's Infoplaza has 10 computers and a server,
a color printer, a fax machine, and super fast broadband internet accessibility
in a completely air conditioned environment.

Broadband
Wireless Connection service is available in many of the more rural
areas of the Republic of Panama, including Bocas del Toro, Changuinola,
Chiriquì Grande, Contadora Island, El Valle, and the Island of Taboga.
The company boasts of supplying the entire western portion of the Republic
of Panama with Internet service. Clients enjoy a reliable signal
thanks to the implementation of strict policies of bandwidth control (CIR

basis until 2003. The company also provides mobile, data, Internet access,
IP solutions and other deregulated services in a competitive market.
Currently, Cable & Wireless Panama offers Internet service at speeds
of 64K to T1. Connections are dial-up. Rates are competitive.
A 64K connection with email address is $14.95 per month. Connection
time is charged by the minute using a graduated scale. The first
5 minutes costs 15 cents. One hour costs $3.45. |

In a deal
valued at $3 million, Liberty Technologies has deployed Navini Networks
Inc.'s broadband wireless system to serve customers in Panama. Liberty
plans to offer services throughout Panama, starting with the country's
main metropolitan areas. Liberty is using Navini's Ripwave broadband wireless
radio operating in the 2.3 GHz frequency range. The system enables |
non-line-of-sight
coverage, and utilizes a plug-and-play modem that enables broadband access
anywhere within the coverage area. Navini's Ripwave broadband wireless
systems operate in the 2.3 GHz WCS, 2.4 GHz ISM, 2.5/2.6 GHz MMDS and 3.5
GHz wireless local loop frequency bands. |
